4 Lessons From The Book Comparisonitis To Help You Succeed in Business

A book about getting over comparing yourself to others and feeling inferior when running your business.

LESSON 1: Your life journey needs to be your own and not dictated by OTHERS/COMPETITORS

If you’re constantly spying on your “competition” or scrolling through social media and feeling bad about yourself every 5 minutes.

This means you’re letting OTHERS dictate how you spend your time, how you feel and ultimately how you’ll take ACTION.

Remember everyone is on their own journey.

You don’t know what they’ve been through to get to where they are today.

All you have to focus on is being a better version of your past self. Not being someone else.

LESSON 2: Your APPEARANCE is not a direct correlation of how your business will perform

Having struggled with my weight most of my life (which i keep very close to my chest and is not something I actively speak about) - this hit hard.

It occured to me that I get my BEST work done with no makeup, in my trackies, and being comfortable. If I want to dress up then ok I will.

But just know that you’re appearance will always be changing as life goes on and if we base our self-worth on just our appearance we’ll have a tough time with how we view ourselves.

REMEMBER: You are more than what you look like and so is your business.

LESSON 3: It’s ok to feel ENVY & JEALOUSY because it's HUMAN.

Look we can’t stop how we really feel. So being envious and jealous of someone shouldn’t make you feel guilty.

Instead of turning that feeling into rage, trolling on their accounts; turn that into inspiration!

Instead have a look at what this person is doing. Can you implement any of their strategies and give it a go. Look at it from an analytical POV.

Now if no matter what you do, this account or person just still makes you feel upset. Just give it a bit of a break and step away. That’s ok too.

LESSON 4: Limit your social media to INTENTIONAL bursts

This has been a GAME CHANGER for me. Everytime I go on social media I’ve got an intention.

  • This might include 10 minutes of engaging.

  • Doing a Post.

  • Commenting back.

  • Looking at the analytics.

  • Finding a trending audio/Getting inspiration (with a TIME LIMIT or TIMER ON)

When you start mind scrolling without an intention, you can open up the flood gates to additional thinking that might not be as positive.

Be intentional.
