Book Review: Marketing Made Simple by Donald Miller
Marketing Made Simple Summary
Based on Building a StoryBrand by New York Times bestselling author Donald Miller, this checklist is a strategic and actionable guide to applying the StoryBrand framework to any brand and an essential part of any marketing professional’s tool kit.
Every day, brands lose millions of dollars simply because they do not have a clear message that tells consumers who they are and what value they will add to their customers’ lives. To solve this dilemma, Donald Miller wrote Building a StoryBrand, which has become the quintessential guide for anyone looking to craft or strengthen their brand’s message.
Now, Don is taking it a step further with this five-part checklist that helps marketing professionals and business owners apply the StoryBrand messaging framework across key customer touchpoints to effectively develop, strengthen, and communicate their brand’s story to the marketplace.
My Review
Marketing Made Simple isn’t my first Donald Miller rodeo đź¤
What I love about his books is he can take a dense topic and explain it in simple terms.
Marketing Made Simple focuses on three core marketing foundations
1. messaging,
2. website
3. email
And how it works in the scheme of building a relationship with your potential customer to close that SALE. He’s got examples in here and encourages you to take action through prompts after each learning in the book.
Now this is very much a book for beginners. I knew a lot of the strategies because well I have them in my business! But if you are a seasoned marketer this is a great reminder to stay focused on what really sells a product/service vs getting distracted by shiny object syndrome.
This would probably be my go-to book recommendation for beginners who want to upskill in marketing.
